BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Department of Transportation (DOTD) wants the public to do its part to make work zones safer.
The DOTD set up a cone memorial on the front lawn of its Baton Rouge Headquarters on Thursday. The memorial is in remembrance of the 609 people killed in work zones in 2012.
Twelve of those deaths were in Louisiana. State officials say that while fatalities are declining, more can be done.
