Observant tipster helps deputies nab accused burglar

BELLE ROSE, LA (WAFB) - A tip from an observant neighbor resulted in the arrest of an alleged burglar.

According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, the caller reported that a suspicious man was walking around a house that was under renovation. The house is located in the 6000 block of Hwy. 1 in Belle Rose.

A deputy arrived at the location shortly before 1:30 p.m. and located an individual matching the description provided by the caller. Edward Ross, 43, of Gonzales, allegedly told the deputy that he was in town to stay with some friends who lived in the area.

The deputy conducted a search and claims to have recovered items that were supposedly stolen.

Ross was arrested and charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. He is currently being held in the Assumption Parish Detention Center on a bond of $25,000.
