NEW ROADS, LA (WAFB) -

The Pointe Coupee Parish Coroner's Office says 66-year-old Isla Lazare's death has been ruled as an accidental drowning.

Lazare was found in False River in New Roads around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 after she had been missing for three days.

Officials in Pointe Coupee Parish said Lazare left Lakeview Manor nursing home on the night of Thursday, March 27th. They also said that Lazare had a history of dementia.

"The video film from the security camera shows that she walked out after she had finished her cigarette and seemed to be walking with a purpose like she was going somewhere," said husband Jim Lazare.

The nursing home staff said surveillance video showed her walking out the doors at 9:55 p.m.
