BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man has been arrested after police say he tried to break into a house, but was stopped by a U.S. Attorney who was walking his dog as it was happening.
It happened around 5 a.m. on March 30, 2014. Police say U.S. Attorney James Green was walking his dogs when he saw a man trying to burglarize his aunt's home in the 1800 block of E. Lakeshore Drive.
Cpl. Don Coppola with the Baton Rouge Police Department says Green confronted the man and a struggle began. Reports say the burglary suspect, now identified as 58-year-old Sidney J. Parker, hit Green and tried to run off, but Mr. Green was able to catch him again.
Parker was able to escape from Green before police arrived on the scene.
He was arrested Wednesday morning by the U.S. Marshals on an active arrest warrant. He was later booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of attempted simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and simple battery.
