Three men are under arrest, accused of robbing a West Columbia convenience store Friday morning.
Lexington County Sheriff James Metts says deputies arrested 20-year-olds Cody Arringer Johnson and Kyntorye Cequel Keith of Orangeburg Friday morning. They are charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Johnson and Keith are held at the Lexington County Detention Center on $160,000 bail.
21-year-old Jaleel Traytwon Miller of Pelion was being held at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center on unrelated charges Tuesday when Metts says he was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime for the same incident.
According to arrest warrants, Johnson, Keith and Miller were armed with a gun when they robbed the El Cheapo convenience store on Charleston Highway at about 9:17 a.m. Friday. Metts says Miller held the clerk at gunpoint while Keith stole money from the cash register and seven packs of cigarettes. Johnson is accused of driving the getaway vehicle.
Shortly after the robbery, troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol pulled the vehicle over on Interstate 26 in Calhoun County. Metts says Keith and Miller ran off while Johnson was detained. Officers with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office caught up with Keith and Miller on Big Beaver Creek Highway.
Metts said detectives recovered the cash stolen in the robbery and the handgun that was used. Metts also said the store clerk identified Keith, Miller and Johnson as the suspects.
