BAKER, LA (WAFB) - A Belaire High School student was arrested Monday after police say he confessed to selling marijuana on campus.
Investigators say Leartay Walker, 17, was approached on campus about an unrelated matter when school administrators say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana on him.
"Defendant was searched and inside of his book bag was 9 individually wrapped bags of suspected marijuana," an investigator wrote in a probable cause report. According to the report, police said they found $238 in one of his front pockets.
According to the report, Walker allegedly confessed to the deputy that the money in his pocket came from selling marijuana. He additionally claims that he attempted to stop selling marijuana one week ago due to all the "killings in the community."
Walker was arrested and charged with a felony count of distribution of marijuana. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
