BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The LSU football spring coaching clinic opened in a bigger venue than ever at the PMAC Thursday night and had a night club feel when New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan took the big stage.
"The bottom line is we're playing a kids game, we're coaching a kids game and if you don't want to have fun, you're in the wrong (expletive) business," Ryan told the audience.
The popular Saints assistant, who turned around the worst defense in the NFL in yardage allowed for Sean Payton's return last season, said coaching with Les Miles at Oklahoma State and their relationship was the reason he visited to Baton Rouge to share what he knows with high school and college coaches.
"I remember sitting in those seats watching people, so you always just want to at least take away something from each speaker and I don't want to be that dud in the roman candles that go off and go, 'pfft' and everybody else be great. So, anytime you can talk football with your peers it's always a fun evening. It's great to be a part of that and I can give back anything at all to have a little tiny something that I can give back I'm going to do it every time," Ryan said.
The clinic runs through Saturday.
