Special Olympics at Dutchtown High

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana Special Olympians took over the track at Dutchtown High School on Wednesday. Every kind of sport was completed, and with every finish, warm cheers could be heard from the crowd for the participants.

It was Field Day, and Major Webb of the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office said these special Olympians give you a sense of inner peace.

"No matter how much money you raise or how much anything you do for them, you see them cross that finish line and they give you a hug.  You see the smile on their face and it's a definite feeling of peace," said Webb.

9News would like to congratulate all of the Special Olympians and the volunteers who make events like this possible.
