Investigators said a man suspected of breaking into two homes and stealing guns, electronic equipment and other items was arrested Monday night.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office reported Lee Betemps, 22, of Schriever, was booked into the parish jail on two counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. His bond was set at $100,000. He was still behind bars as of Wednesday morning.

Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said the burglaries happened in the Schriever area in February. He said a Smith and Wesson .357 caliber handgun and medication was stolen from one home. He added the following merchandise was taken during the second:

Benelli Black Eagle 2 shotgun

Xbox 360

PlayStation 3

Samsung laptop computer

Vizio 32" television

Tennis shoes

Detectives said they gathered evidence that pointed to Betemps as the culprit and during questioning, he reportedly admitted to committing the burglaries.

They added a second suspect was arrested Tuesday evening. Fantasia Drane, 22, of Schriever, is also charged with two counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. He remains in jail on a $20,000 bond.

Officials said Drane denied being involved in the burglaries, but he reportedly confessed to selling items stolen in the burglaries.

The investigation continues.
