Baton Rouge woman arrested after nearly hitting two poles, driving car into ditch

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge woman was arrested after swerving between lanes, nearly hitting two poles and driving her car into the ditch, according to one witness.

It happened at 7900 Hooper Road in Baton Rouge at about 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 23. The woman, Jennifer Tarleton, was charged with driving on a suspended license, failure to maintain a lane, and delinquency of a juvenile.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies say they responded to a call regarding a woman who drove her car into the ditch. A witness told police she followed the woman for about a mile as she was swerving from lane to lane and then drove into the ditch.

The woman and a child were taken to the hospital. Police say they found a half-empty wine bottle on the floor in the back of the vehicle.

The woman told police she 'only had one glass of wine.'

She was taken to the parish prison.
