Krispy Kreme offering free doughnuts for Mardi Gras beads

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Want to get some delicious, hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts for free?

All you have to do is drop off 12 pounds or more of Mardi Gras beads at the Krispy Kreme store in Baton Rouge, 5504 Plank Road, and you'll get a dozen original glazed doughnuts for free.

It's all part of the Beads for Doughnuts campaign.

"All the beads will then be given to the Arc of Greater New Orleans Mardi Gras Recycling Center," says Donnie Bradley, Krispy Kreme's general manager.

The campaign runs through Wednesday, March 26 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The recycling center employs adults with disabilities or developmental delays who along with other volunteers sort, band, repackage, and then sell the beads. Last year, the Arc sold more than 120,000 pounds of beads.

The Mobile Krispy Kreme store collected 110,000 pounds of beads.
