BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - IBM has named Baton Rouge as one of only four cities to receive its IBM Smarter Cities Challenge grant for 2014.
The program sends experts to provide pro bono consulting expertise on the most critical issues facing communities. In the case of Baton Rouge, the focus will be on traffic.
"This morning, IBM announced that a team of experts will work with us this year to develop data about our regional transportation demands, new growth models and an independent look at potential solutions," said Mayor Kip Holden. "This will help us use our resources most efficiently, working with some of the best minds in the world."
The IBM team is scheduled to visit Baton Rouge later in the year and study the transportation system.
