Name calling on social media leads to fight at Central Middle, 6 arrested

ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Six girls have been arrested for a fist fight at Central Middle School that started over an online feud.

Officials with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office say the fight happened on Monday, March 24. However, the "name calling" started on a social media site.

"The altercation became physical this morning when two girls bumped each other in the hallway and then began fist fighting," Alison Hudson, Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, explained. "Friends of the two girls joined in the fight and while attempting to break up the fight, two teachers sustained minor injuries."

School security officers conducted an investigation, which resulted in the arrests of six girls. Two were placed in the Assumption Parish Youth Detention Center, the remaining students were released to the custody of their parents.

All of the teenagers have been charged with disturbing the peace, simple battery, and simple battery of a teacher.
