JACKSON, LA (WAFB) - The EBR SWAT team was called for assistance, in East Feliciana Parish, on Friday after a Jackson suspect, wanted for attempted murder, locked himself up in his home where he had access to firearms.
Thursday, March 20th at around 10:56 p.m., officials received a call about a shooting that happened on Tom Mills Drive just off US 61.
Police say 35-year-old Clyde Bennet Mills of Tom Mills Lane, Jackson, La., allegedly shot two victims in the head and chest. But, when authorities arrived at his home with an arrest warrant Friday afternoon, Mills locked himself in the residence and refused to come out.
According to the police report, Mills had access to firearms within his home. Due to the serious nature of the charges and the circumstance at that time, investigators decided to bring in the EBR Swat team to assist in Mills' arrest.
Authorities began negotiations with Mills and he surrendered at around 4:00 p.m.
Mills is currently being held in the East Feliciana Parish Prison on two counts of attempted 2nd degree murder. No bond has been set.
