Lake Charles man drowns at Holbrook Park

SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles man drowned while fishing at Holbrook Park.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Holbrook Park in Sulphur around 5 p.m. Saturday in reference to a possible drowning. 

The investigation revealed Kyle A. Simpson, 20, was at the park fishing with family members. According to witnesses, Simpson swam to a rope swing on the other side of the river but once he reached the swing he went under the water and did not resurface.

Family members attempted to find him but were unsuccessful.  The CPSO Marine Division came out and was able to locate Simpson's body which was underwater close to the rope swing.

Simpson's family is asking for donations to help pay for his funeral expenses. Donations can be made to Kings Funeral Home:
