BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Police arrested 17-year-old Brandon Boyd Friday afternoon and charged him with First Degree Murder, EBR Parish Prison booking records show.
Boyd turned himself in to detectives at the Violent Crimes Unit without making any statements, Cpl. Don Coppola said.
Boyd, 12301 La Margie Ave., is accused in the Tuesday evening shooting death of 24-year-old Emanuelle Myles. A 19-year-old man was also shot but survived.
The shooting happened around 6:15 p.m. at the scene of a fight involving four people in a parking lot on La Margie Avenue, Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said. Boyd – who was not involved in the fight – allegedly fired multiple times into the crowd, hitting Myles in the head and the 19-year-old in the arm. Both were taken to local hospitals, and Myles later died from his injuries.
Myles was a bystander to the fight, McKneely said, while the 19-year-old was one of the four directly involved. His name has not been released.
Boyd is charged with one count of First Degree Murder, one count of Attempted First Degree Murder and one count of Illegal Use of a Weapon. Records show he was booked around 4:15 p.m. Friday and is being held in lieu of a $160,000 bail.
