The Troy University baseball team fell to the University of Louisiana-Monroe on Friday by a score of 7-4.
The Trojans host the Warhawks in a three game series that started on Friday and continues through Sunday at Riddle-Pace Field. Troy led 4-2 heading into the sixth inning, but ULM was able to score two runs on three hits off of Trojan starter, Tanner Hicks. The Warhawks were able to extend their lead in the seventh inning with three more runs on two doubles and a wild pitch.
Hicks falls to 2-3 on the season after suffering the loss. Hicks pitched six innings giving up seven hits and allowed six runs, four of which were earned. The Trojans Left 13 runners stranded throughout the game and struck out 12 times.
Jo-El Bennett and Garrett Pitts both led the Trojan offense with two hits. The Trojans walked eight times in the game but were only able to produce two RBI.
The Trojans play on Saturday at 6 p.m. and again on Sunday at 1 p.m.
