The Habitat of Greater Baton Rouge and Lowes are teaming up to raise some walls and hopefully grab the attention of some potential new volunteers.
The event was one of ten being held across the country to celebrate the company's 10 year partnership with HABITAT. It was also the launch of "Hammers for Habitat"-a nationwide drive to recruit 100,000 new Habitat volunteers within the year.
Executive Director Lynn Clark said that volunteers were moving quickly to get the structure built and there was a lot of teamwork involved.
"This was incredible. We started this morning at 8 o'clock and by 9:30, all the walls were already built because we have 100 Lowes employees and other volunteers out here helping us, "said Clark.
Habitat hopes by recruiting 100,000 new volunteers this year, they will be able to serve one million people a year by 2018.
