PONCHATOULA, LA (WAFB) -

Narcotics agents said a man and woman were arrested on drug charges Wednesday after a joint investigation.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office reported Sandra Zydallas, 35, and Allen Zydallas, 40, were booked on numerous charges on suspicion of transporting large amounts of marijuana from their Ponchatoula home to different parts of St. John the Baptist Parish.

Sheriff Daniel Edwards said a search of the home turned up about 7.25 pounds of marijuana, 50 grams of cocaine, prescription drugs, digital scales, packaging materials and a little more than $4,600 in cash. He added the worth of the drugs and cash totaled more than $12,900.

According to deputies, Sandra Zydallas and a 4-year-old child were home at the time of the search. Zydallas was arrested and the child was placed in the custody of a family member. Deputies said they later learned two other children live at the home. They added the drugs discovered inside the home were in places any of the children could have gotten to them.

Sandra Zydallas was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on the following charges:

Possession with intent to distribute marijuana

Possession with intent to distribute cocaine

Illegal use/possession of CDS in the presence of person under the age of 17 (3 counts)

Possession of legend drug without prescription

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Investigators reported Allen Zydallas was arrested later that same day after he was pulled over in St. John the Baptist Parish and a pound of marijuana was found inside the vehicle. He was booked into the St. John the Baptist Parish Jail. He will later be transferred to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and booked on the same charges as Sandra Zydallas. A picture of Allen Zydallas was not provided.

The investigation is ongoing.
