Man known as a Craigslist robber convicted of 2010 murder

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - It took an East Baton Rouge Parish jury less than an hour to convict Brandon Seals, otherwise known as the Craigslist robber.

Seals, who was a known gang member, was convicted of second degree murder, armed robbery, attempted second degree murder, and attempted armed robbery.

He killed Otis Taylor back in December 2010 on 74th street. Police say Taylor was riding in a friend's car when he was shot and killed by two men who tried to rob them. Taylor's friend was able to get away unharmed.

Seals was also found guilty of being a Craigslist robber. On December 12, 2010, someone posted an ad on Craigslist offering to buy or sell iPads. That person was beat up and robbed by two men. Police say it happened when he was trying to collect money from what he thought was a potential customer.

The other suspect charged in this robbery is Rayjuan Martin.

Prosecutors say the family of the victim was pleased with the verdict.
