BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The first day of spring kicked off with a news conference about the upcoming fourth annual Lemonade Day.
Sponsors gathered at LSU's College of Business Thursday to announce the event. Volunteers were stuffing backpacks with entrepreneurial materials for those who are participating.
Lemonade Day teaches children about opening and operating a business. Organizers said no age is too young to start learning.
"It is never too early to begin teaching about entrepreneurism," said Stacy Schliewe. "Why wait for someone to give you the money? Go out and earn it yourself. And I think, when you start teaching that to children at a young age, then they realize that it is possible. And that sparks their desire to do it for the rest of their lives."
Lemonade Day will start Saturday, May 3.
