GEISMAR, LA (WAFB) - Four men were arrested after a deal made to have someone beaten up turned into an attempted robbery among the suspects.
According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies answered a call for a possible robbery in progress located at 12506 Highway 73 in Geismar, La. It happened on Sunday, March 16th at around 8:30 p.m.
Officials say they approached Tate Adkins, 20, of Geismar who told them that he was riding with three other men: Prairieville residents 22-year-old Damon Dalferes, 21-year-old Shane Borer, and Kenneth Cox, 24. According to authorities, Adkins agreed to pay Cox $300 to commit battery on an individual who had been harassing him.
They drove Adkins to an ATM machine where he attempted to withdraw the cash but the transaction failed. Once Adkins was not able to hold up his end of the deal, Cox allegedly held him at gunpoint and told him, "Give me everything you got." Adkins told deputies that Cox then got out of the car and left on foot without any money.
Later, deputies found Dalferes and Borer at a local business near Hwy 73 and Hwy 74. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered a 12-guage shotgun. Dalferes and Borer were both charged with principal to attempted first-degree robbery and criminal conspiracy to commit simple battery.
Dalferes was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Adkins and Cox were also charged with principal to attempted first-degree robbery and criminal conspiracy. Adkins was taken into custody on Monday, March 17th, and Cox was arrested Tuesday, March 18th. Both have booked in the Ascension Parish Jail, awaiting bond.
