Detectives find marijuana, marijuana plants & guns at home, 4 arrested

PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Four people were arrested after narcotics agents said they searched a home and found marijuana, marijuana plants growing in the yard, guns and more.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported the following people were taken into custody:

Michelle Yarbrough, 40

Julie Yarbrough, 59

Evangelean Gaona, 20

Dakota Sutton, 19

All four of the suspects live at a home on Country Drive in Prairieville.

Maj. Kevin Hanna reported undercover agents bought marijuana from someone at the home Monday after getting several complaints about illegal drug activity going on there and a search warrant was executed later in the day.

Detectives said they found about two pounds of marijuana, four marijuana plants growing in the front yard, a sawed off shotgun, a handgun and drug paraphernalia. They then arrested the four people at the home.

Michelle Yarbrough faces the following charges:

Possession with intent to distribute marijuana

Cultivation of marijuana

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Illegal carrying of weapons (2 counts)

Possession of an unregistered firearm

She remains in the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond.

Julie Yarbrough was booked on six counts of failure to appear in court. She is also still in the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond.

Gaona and Sutton were both charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were both released Tuesday after each posting $1,089 bond.
