BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Emergency responders were called out to a house fire Monday morning.
It happened on North Lark Street around 11 a.m. Lark is located near the Baton Rouge Metro Airport.
Investigators on the scene say the fire was caused by a portable heater that was too close to a "combustible."
The Baton Rouge Fire Department arrived to find the rear of the home engulfed in flames. They were able to contain the fire to the rear of the home, but the rest of the house was damaged by smoke, heat and water.
No injuries were reported in the fire and Red Cross was called to help the resident.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
