ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) -

A Zachary man was arrested on charges of cruelty of a juvenile after being accused of excessive beating of a 2-year-old.

According to the probable cause report from the Zachary Police Department, the two-year-old child wet her pants because of a bladder infection. The man, 26-year-old Gabriel Hagan, is accused of "beating" the child because she wet her pants.

The mother of the child noticed what looked like fingerprint marks on the child's legs, buttocks and face. She took the child to a pediatrician, and after the examination, the doctor stated that "after 24 hours after spanking a child, it should not leave marks." The doctor went on to say that "this constitutes excessive beating for a toileting accident due to a bladder infection."

Police made contact with Hagan where he denied the accusations. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and is being held on a $25,000 bond.
