ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH (WAFB) - A body found Monday has been identified as that of a missing woman.
The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office said the body of Lakeitha Joseph, 29, of Reserve, was found by a boater in the Intracoastal Waterway. The coroner in Orleans Parish confirmed she drowned, but did not rule out foul play.
Her husband, Kenneth Joseph, 34, is still missing. The couple was reported missing by relatives on February 19. Detectives said their home was ransacked.
A search of the swamps along I-55 between LaPlace and Manchac on March 7 did not turn up any results on the couple. Investigators said they received a tip about the possible whereabouts of the Josephs. After getting the anonymous tip, Sheriff Mike Tregre sent 27 deputies on what was the largest search done by his department.
Authorities in Georgia announced the van driven by the couple was found in good condition at an apartment complex just outside of Atlanta on February 28.
