Southern University celebrates centennial anniversary

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - It was March 9, 1914 that Southern University on the Bluff was established. University officials, students, alumni, and friends celebrated their 100-year anniversary on March 10.

The Founder's Day Convocation was held in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

Southern Lab students walked to the Bluff and laid a wreath on F.G. Clark's grave, the university's second president who is largely credited for putting Southern on the map.

Leon Tarver, another former president, served as the keynote speaker and Miss Southern welcomed everyone.
