Ascension Parish hosting community meetings to discuss recreation programs

ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Ascension Parish officials are hosting a series of community meetings to get feedback on recreational programs in the future.

The meetings will give residents a chance to share their thoughts. Residents will also learn about possible upcoming plans for upgrading parks as well as the construction of new facilities such as the proposed Donaldsonville Fairground Sports park and a proposed new Multi-use Sportsplex.

The meetings will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting tonight March 10 from at the Lemann Community Center in Donaldsonville. Other meetings will be held:

March 12, Oak Grove Elementary Cafeteria, 17550 Old Jefferson Hwy. in Prairieville

March 17 at St. Amant Recreation Park Community Center, 45404 Stringer Bridge Road

March 18 at Lamar Dixon Expo Center Gymnasium, 9039 St. Landry Ave. in Gonzales

March 19 at Geismar Community Center, 12060 Highway 73

"We are looking forward to hearing from our citizens to help us develop a recreation improvements plan we are calling "Envision Our Parks," said Parish Councilman and Recreation Committee Chairman Travis Turner. "Their input is vital to ensuring we are meeting the recreational needs of our community."
