A pregnant woman and her boyfriend were arrested on drug and property damage charges after an incident at a hotel over the weekend.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office booked Jessica Obannon, 31, and Wade McKann, 33, both of Baton Rouge. McKann was taken into custody Saturday, while Obannon was booked Sunday morning.

According to the probable cause report, deputies were called to Crestwood Suites on South Sherwood Forest Boulevard because a woman was heard screaming in a room. Responding deputies reported hearing a woman screaming and arguing with a man.

Investigators said after they knocked several times, McKann answered the door. They reported from the hallway, they could see pills, knives and blood on the floor, along with blood on one side of McKann's face. They added damage to the room and glass and clothes scattered around were also visible. The manager reportedly estimated the damage to the room at $1,750.

The probable cause report stated McKann told deputies his girlfriend, Obannon, was eight months pregnant. It added Obannon told deputies she was going into labor and while EMS was checking her out, she pulled out several pill bottles without labels on them. She reportedly told them she had prescriptions for the medication, but was not able to provide any and that one of the bottles belonged to her sister. Deputies said they also collected multiple needles and drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said when they questioned McKann about the damage in the room he said Obannon had done it and that the blood was hers. According to reports, McKann said his girlfriend was having contractions and cut herself to take her mind off the pain. Deputies said Obannon admitted to cutting herself.

McKann was booked on the following charges:

Possession of Schedule IV

Possession of legend drug (2 counts)

Simple criminal damage to property

Theft

His bond was set at $13,500.

Investigators said they later learned Obannon was not going into labor and, according to the hospital, was only six months pregnant. Deputies said they went to the home she and McKann shared the next day and arrested her for the incident at the hotel. They reported finding a container in her purse with different types of pills.

She was booking on the following charges:

Possession of legend drug (2 counts)

Possession of Schedule III

Possession of Schedule II

Simple criminal damage to property

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Her bond was set at $26,000.
