PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

A suspect in a Prescott Valley domestic violence incident was wounded by police gunfire after he allegedly pointed a gun at one of the officers called to a domestic violence scene.

The man also allegedly shot and wounded another man in the neck before police arrived.

Police received a tip from a caller who reported hearing gunshots fired inside a home in the 9400 block of Magma Drive.

Police established a perimeter around the house and a short time later the suspect emerged from a back door and pointed a gun at one of the officers, said Prescott Valley police spokesman Gene McFarland.

The officer opened fire with his service weapon. Police entered the home and found the other wounded man, who was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital.

The suspect was also treated at the scene and then flown to a Phoenix area hospital.

No officers were hurt. Police are not yet releasing the names of the injured.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is handling the investigation at the request of the Prescott Valley Police Department.
