Coast Guardsmen sentenced to six years for sexual assault

NEW ORLEANS (WAFB) - Officials say a Coast Guardsman was convicted and sentenced Friday during a court-martial held in Norfolk, Va.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Christopher Bush, 28, was sentenced to six years confinement with a dishonorable discharge for engaging in sexual misconduct involving a junior Coast Guard woman, a civilian woman, and possession of child pornography.

The incidents happened between January 2010 and May 2013 while Bush was stationed at a shore unit based in New Orleans and on the Coast Guard Cutter Wyanconda in Iowa.  The name of the unit in New Orleans is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Bush has been held in pre-trial confinement at the Naval Brig in Chesapeake, Va. since June 2013 while awaiting court-martial.
