Coolidge city employee accused of molesting girl

Deputies in Pinal County have arrested a Coolidge city employee accused of molesting a young girl for the past decade.

Luis Ramirez, 51, of Florence was arrested on Thursday, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tim Gaffney.

Gaffney said the investigation began after the victim recently told one of her friends who called authorities with concerns for her safety.

When interviewed by PCSO, the 19-year-old alleged a family acquaintance had repeatedly sexually assaulted and molested her since she was 9 years old. Ramirez allegedly attempted to assault the victim this month.

The victim told authorities she hadn't told anyone the past 10 years because she didn't think anyone would believe her.

While the PCSO Sex Crimes Detective was investigating, the mother told Ramirez she wanted to shoot him and he allegedly told her she would be "justified if she did," according to Gaffney.

Gaffney said Ramirez admitted to some of the crimes and was booked into the Pinal County Jail for child molestation, sexual abuse and sexual conduct with a minor.

Ramirez was working in public works for the city of Coolidge as the civil engineer inspector.
