State surveys noisy road in Central

CENTRAL, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is actively working to quiet to a noisy stretch of highway in the City of Central.

A spokesman confirms engineers were on Joor Road on Thursday morning taking measurements.

In 2009, the state widened the highway from two lanes to four. That included putting tines, or grooves, in the pavement to make the road safer when it rains.

Residents claim it creates a continuous loud noise that has robbed them of their peace and quiet.
They started a petition and a Facebook page to voice their concerns.

The state is studying the roadway and comparing it to other recently completed projects in the area to see what can be done to make Joor Road quieter.
