PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A man wanted on a felony warrant in the 2013 death of his girlfriend was arrested in Avondale Wednesday.

Avondale police helped U.S. Marshals apprehend 18-year-old Adrian Martinez around 1:30 p.m.

The warrant was issued Feb. 28 and carried a $100,000 bond.

Amanda Dawn Mosley, 24, was shot on Oct. 1, 2013, and later died at a hospital.

Martinez allegedly had a handgun in his waistband and it caused Mosley "discomfort" as he hugged her, officers said.

As Martinez was removing the gun, it fired and Mosley was struck by a bullet, police said.

This week, law enforcement officials conducted surveillance and discovered Martinez was staying at his mother's home in the 600 block of North Fourth Street.

Once U.S. Marshals confirmed he was there, they moved in to make the arrest.

Martinez was taken to Avondale City Jail and later transferred to the Fourth Avenue Jail.
