Cement truck crashes after swerving to avoid debris in roadway

ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

The driver of a cement truck was sent to the hospital with moderate injuries after a crash caused by debris in the roadway.

"The driver was going east on LA 22 when he swerved to avoid some wood in the roadway," Tpr. Jared Sandifer, Louisiana State Police, said. "The driver overcorrected and ran off the roadway."

The crash happened in Ascension Parish shortly after 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5. The driver had to be rescued from the vehicle after he was trapped inside the truck following the impact. Thankfully the driver did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
