FRANKLIN, LA (WAFB) - A man and woman were arrested on drug charges after authorities said 10 marijuana plants were found in their home.
James Jones, 49, and Aimee Monnin, 30, both of Franklin, were taken into custody Friday afternoon.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said a search warrant was obtained for the home as part of an investigation into illegal drug activity. Deputies reported in addition to the plants, a rifle and drug paraphernalia were discovered inside the home.
Jones and Monnin were both charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Jones also faces a charge of possession of Anexsia, which is a pain killer that combines hydrocodone and acetaminophen.
No bond was set on the suspects.
The sheriff's office narcotics division said the arrests were the result of a joint investigation with Louisiana State Police (Houma office) and the Morgan City Police Department.
The investigation is ongoing.
