Firefighters battle Friday evening house fire in Baker

BAKER, LA (WAFB) -

Firefighters say they were called to a house fire in Baker on Friday evening.  The fire happened in the 4200 block of Jefferson St. around 6:15 pm.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they found half of the house with heavy smoke and fire, but were able to stop the fire from spreading through the entire home. Investigators believe the fire was started from smoking materials that were discarded improperly.

The two adults that occupied the home were able to make it out safely. The Red Cross was on hand to offer assistance. No injuries have been reported in the fire.
