BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - As the weekend approaches, motorists might want to remember to stay extra cautious and alert on the highway. Louisiana's state law enforcement says they are ready to keep the roads as safe as possible during the Mardi Gras weekend.
The Louisiana State Police are getting prepared for the upcoming weekend since people will be going to and fro from parades. They said they will be out on the roads right along with them, making sure this holiday weekend is a safe one.
"Our troopers are going to be out in full force on the interstate between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. We're going to be looking for people who might be speeding or might be driving while intoxicated. And we're just going to be there with a presence, making sure that doesn't happen," said LSP Spokesperson Tpr. Jared Sandifer.
Tpr. Sandifer also added that Mardi Gras is one of the busiest travel weekends for South Louisiana.
We would like to remind our viewers and residents across the state to buckle up and enjoy your holiday responsibly.
