GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

A 44-year-old man from Gonzales is being held in the Ascension Parish Jail without bail after he allegedly held members of his family hostage for 5 days.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, Richard Miley had stopped taking his medication for a period of time, which caused erratic behavior.

"The victim's advised that Miley had held them captive in their home for five days," Allison Hudson, a representative for the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, said. "During those 5 days Miley had also damaged the interior of the home. The victims added that Miley had been living with them for the past 8 months and seemed normal during this time, with the exception of the last five days.

Miley was arrested and charged with false imprisonment, domestic abuse battery, simple criminal damage to property, and parole violation.
