The annual Zippity Zoo Fest returns to commemorate the Zoo's opening in spring 1970. Join BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo and WAFB in celebrating the anniversary with two fun-filled days. Bring the entire family for festivities from railroad rides to face painting—all while being surrounded by nature's most playful friends.
Catch live performances of musicians, dancers and entertainers of all sorts on the Entertainment Stage.
Learn the ways of the wild at Ed-ZOO-cation Station and Wildlife Safari Theatre with interactive and hands-on animal education shows!
Jump right into a giant inflatable obstacle course for children of all ages at the Children's Village.
Get your favorite animal painted on your face or go for a temporary tattoo; only $1 per face painting/tattoo.
Capture all of the zippity zoo fun at the Safari Snapshot Photo Booths for only $5 per photo with four poses on each one.
Stop by the American Association of Zoo Keeper's booth and help raise money for Bowling for Rhinos by taking a chance at their ring toss game! Each try is only $1 and all proceeds benefit AAZK philanthropy projects, continuing education and professional development.
For a little something extra check out the Zoo's scenic route along the Cypress Bayou Railroad line with rides departing the depot every 30 minutes!
Chat with real Zoo Keepers throughout the Zoo all day Saturday and Sunday and ask questions about the daily activities of the animals and their keepers.
Also, be sure to participate in the Photo Contest accepting submissions until March 21! Then at the Fest, visit the education building to see the winning photos exhibited.
The Festival will take place on April 5 & 6, 2014 from 9:30am – 6:00pm. Regular zoo admission is required to enter. For more information on the Zippity Zoo Fest and its Photo Contest, please click here!
