BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - An 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly kicking his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach. He's charged with attempted feticide because the victim claims he said, "I never wanted that baby anyway," after the attack.

According to the probable cause report, the incident happened on Thursday, Feb. 20. The suspect, Darrell Johnson, allegedly initiated the attack against his pregnant girlfriend.

"The victim advised that she got into an argument with [Johnson]," the investigating deputy report. "She advised that she is currently 7 months pregnant…"

The victim claims Johnson became physical. He allegedly struck and choked her, causing her to fall to the ground.

"Once on the floor, [Johnson] then began to kick her in the stomach at least once, possibly more," the deputy noted in the report.

After the alleged attack, the victim drove to a medical center for evaluation. The initial examination revealed that no damage had been caused to the child. However, investigators issued a warrant for Johnson's arrest.

Johnson was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 27 for attempted second-degree feticide and domestic abuse battery. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
