BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, a 17-year-old female student was arrested Tuesday and charged with battery of a school teacher after a fight broke out at Tara High School.

According to a probable cause report, the fight broke out Tuesday morning before 9:30 a.m. between 17-year-old Raven Shantia-Precious Davis and a juvenile. A teacher tried to break up the fight, but was thrown to the ground, and reports say the teacher was kicked several times.

When deputies arrived, nearly 50 students had encircled the fight. When the deputy entered the circle, he saw the teacher on the ground. "The kicks were generated as the two participants refused to acknowledge numerous verbal and physical directives to cease this altercation."

Davis was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and battery of a school teacher. She has been released from the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $1,500 bond. The juvenile was issued a summons and was released to her parents. The juvenile's name will not be released due to her age.

According to reports, Davis told deputies that this was not the first fight between her and the other student, that it has been a feud for the majority of the school year.
