BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Scotlandville Magnet High School Performing Arts Department is presenting a play entitled "The Face of Emmett Till."
It is the story of a Black teenager in Mississippi in 1955 who was beaten and killed after alledgedly whistling at a White woman.
The play will be performed on Wednesday, Feb. 26 and Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. It is part of the school's Black History Month celebration.
"This is a very intense, very powerful story," organizers say. "I want to convey the message that everyone can change things because Emmett Till started the movement for civil rights."
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. To reserve tickets, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
