LSU named new No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball Top 25

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

LSU was named the new No. 1 in this week's Collegiate Baseball Top 25.

The Tigers went 4-0 this week, improving their overall record to 7-0 on the season.

LSU started the week with a 7-3 victory over Southeastern University in Hammond.

The weekend series included victories against Virginia Tech (9-0), Toledo (15-1) and Texas Southern (4-1).

The Tigers are ranked number 7 in Baseball America's Top 25, up one from number 8 last week.

No. 1 LSU (7-0) returns home Tuesday to face (10) UL-Lafayette (7-1) at 6:30 p.m.

UL-L is ranked number 10 in this week's Baseball America Top 25 and number 13 in Collegiate Baseball Poll.

LSU junior right-hander Aaron Nola was named Monday byCollegiate Baseball magazine as one of its National Players of the Week.

Nola fired a no-hitter for seveninnings against Virginia Tech before leaving the game due to apitch count restriction.
