AL Senator gives cattlemen something to chew on

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

There is no love lost between U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama (R) and President Obama.

Sessions was the keynote luncheon speaker Wednesday at the Montgomery Cattlemen's Association. The veteran lawmaker criticized the President on several topics including the economy and the debt ceiling controversy.

"That's very difficult to do because we can pass a law but he'll veto it," said Senator Sessions.

Senator Sessions claims President Obama enforces regulations that don't exist and also believes Mr. Obama is stretching the truth on global warming.

"He said last November the global warming temperature has increased over the last 5 or 10 years. We discovered that global warming has remained flat for 16 years," said Sessions.

Closer to home Sessions would not say whether he supported Alabama Governor Robert Bentley's decision to not extend Medicaid as part of the President's new healthcare law.

"Governor Bentley is a doctor and I know he's studied this for a long time. It's his decision to make," said Sessions.

Under the Affordable Care Act the federal government says it will pay 100 percent for the cost of expansion for the first three years and 90 percent after that.
