ALBANY, LA (WAFB) - After nearly 16 hours of being closed, I-12 East between Holden and Albany is now open.
Louisiana State Police said a three-vehicle crash involving two dump trucks and an 18-wheeler forced the closure of a portion of I-12 early Wednesday morning, around 12:30 a.m.
Troopers reported I-12 East is shut down between Holden and Albany to clean up the area after wreck, which happened just after midnight.
Congestion in the area is still very heavy with reports of up to nine miles of backup. Drivers are urged to use US 190 as an alternate route.
Authorities said the two dump trucks were carrying asphalt and the 18-wheeler was hauling coffee. Only minor injuries were reported.
The cause of the wreck is being investigated.
