Walmart donates $25,000 to Mental Health Association

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Walmart Foundation recently contributed $25,000 to the Mental Health Association for Greater Baton Rouge.

The money will be used to help feed chronically mentally ill patients in the Alliance House Drop In Center, a day program for adults to help them become successful in all aspects of their lives.

"We are grateful for the Walmart Foundation and the Louisiana State Giving Advisory Council's financial support which has allowed MHA to expand its Hot and Healthy Lunch Program at the Alliance House Drop In Center," said Melissa Silva, executive director of the Mental Health Association. "Since most of our clients live below the poverty line, the balanced meal received at the Drop In Center may be the only healthy meal selection for that day. Good nutrition and healthy meal planning are essential to the overall physical health and mental stability of our clients."

The grant was presented on Feb. 18.
