BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Police have arrested a man who they say has scammed Craigslist users out of $8,600.
Police say 30-year-old Larry Anthony Sherman posted ads on Craigslist trying to sell used vehicles.
In November, Sherman listed a 2002 Toyota Camry for sale for $2,800. Then in December, Sherman listed a 2006 Nissan Maxima for $3,000. In January, Sherman listed a vehicle for $2,800 that was in an auction yard.
Police say that in each incident, Sherman would meet the potential buyers, collect the money and would never hand over the vehicle.
Police say Sherman was arrested in New Orleans during a traffic stop. He has been arrested and charged with five counts of felony theft.
Police believe that there are other victims. Anyone who has any information on this incident is urged to contact the Financial Crimes Division at 389-3871 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
