HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - Deputies with the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office arrested a Hammond man Monday that was hiding out in a trailer after he allegedly severely beat a woman.

Deputies responded to the call just before 1 a.m. at a home on Dunson Park Avenue in Hammond. When deputies arrived, reports say they found that 29-year-old Christopher Adam Wier had severely beaten a woman.

While the deputies were there, they were told that Wier was possibly hiding out in a nearby trailer. Deputies surrounded the trailer and found Wier.

Deputies say Wier resisted arrest, but within moments, he was arrested. Deputies noticed large amounts of blood in several areas of the home.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.

Wier was taken to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and charged with second degree battery, two counts of resisting arrest by force and public intimidation. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.
