SAU's Townsend named GAC Player of Week

Southern Arkansas sophomore outfielder William Townsend has been named as the Great American Conference Player of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Townsend, a native of Natchitoches, La., becomes the third Mulerider to earn a GAC weekly award after he had at least one hit, scored one run, and had one RBI in all three games of the series against Southwestern Oklahoma.

In the first two games, both SAU wins, Townsend was 6-for-9 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Overall for the week, Townsend was 7-for-12 with four runs scores and four RBIs. Three of his seven hits this week were extra-base hits as he had one double and two triples.
